Born in Cordoba Spain in 1137, he was a renown physician, rabbi, and philosopher within Egypt and Morocco. Along with the Islamic sage known as Averroes, he helped to promote and further develop the philosophical legacy of Aristotle, which upon doing so gave Maimonides a lot of influence within the Western World of his time. Both Thomas Aquinas and Albert the Great were avid readers of Maimonides, spending much of their free time covering his most accessible works. As he pertains to our website, Maimonides is known for further cultivating the characteristics of the Seraphim angels, writing detailed descriptions of them having a human-like form.
