Belinda from Madrid Spain recently sent our staff members the following question. She asked where in the Old Testament do the Seraphim appear? The Seraphim first appear within the Old Testament Book of Isaiah, Chapter 6 verse 1 through 3. Within these passages, the holy prophet Isaiah explains a vision that he had. He states that he saw the Lord God sitting on a throne high and exalted, and hovering around him were Seraphim angels. Isaiah does not mention exactly how many of these Seraphim he saw, but he speaks of them in the plural sense, so we know that there were at least two, and quite possibly a few. The prophet Isaiah then goes on to state that the Seraphim had six wings, using two to cover their face, two to cover their feet, and two to soar or fly with. He also mentions that the Seraphim sing to each other the praises of God, and that this Trisagion song is so powerful that it shook the foundation of the temple where Isaiah was standing.
