Maureen from Reykjavik Iceland sent our staff the following question. She asked us what is the Swedish Order of the Seraphim Knights? I believe what you are referring to is the Royal Order of the Seraphim. Pronounced Swedish Kungliga Serafimerorden in the Swedish language, it is a royal order of chivalry bestowed upon noteworthy statesmen and clergy. It was originally created in 1748 by King Frederick I of Sweden. There are some who believe the Royal Order of the Seraphim dates back to the early days of Sweden right after it became Christian, and that today's version of the order is a revived version. There is however no concrete evidence to support it being much older, despite some of these persisting legends surrounding the royal order. With regard to the insignia of the order, it's quite beautiful, made in pure solid gold, silver, and enamel.
