Dominic from Belfast Northern Ireland sent our editor the following question. Do the Seraphim appear in the Tanakh or Masoretic Text? The answer is yes, they do appear in the Tanakh or Hebrew Old Testament. The exact scripture where they are first mentioned is Isaiah Chapter 6 verses 1 through 3, where the prophet's vision of the Seraphim is laid out fully. These passages state that Isaiah saw the Lord God sitting high and exalted on his throne, and hovering around him were Seraphim angels. These angels were said to have three pairs of wings each, using one pair to fly, one pair to cover their faces, and one pair to cover their feet. It was also said that they continually sing to each other, a song that is called the Trisagion, which is a praise of God. Isaiah states that this song is so powerful that it shook the foundation of the First Temple of Jerusalem, where it is thought that the prophet was during the time that he had this extremely vivid vision.
