Jan from Bratislava Slovakia personally sent me the following question. He asked are the Seraphim fiery serpents or human looking? This is a good question, as there is some debate still ongoing with regard to the subject. The word Seraphim is derived from the Hebrew word Sarap, which literally means to burn. So Seraphim in this sense means burning ones. When Isaiah first describes the Seraphim in Isaiah Chapter 6 verses 1 through 3, it is thought that he refers to them as Seraphim because they emit a bright glowing light, or are burning with light. There are however other parts within the Old Testament where the word Seraph is used, however in those cases it is clear that the author is referring to fiery serpents, or snakes of the Sinai, as in Isaiah Chapter 30 verses 6. Some people look at this last verse, and have concluded that what Isaiah saw that day around God's throne were dragon-like angels, and not human-like. Most believe that they were human-like.
